Why join Durham Academy?

At Durham Academy we are a smaller than average size school with a strong community feel where we believe that “every child matters” and that all students should be treated as individuals. We aspire for all our students to develop into happy but confident, ambitious and respectful young adults who are ready and well prepared for the next stage in their lives. We believe that all students should be proud of their achievements and indeed take every opportunity to celebrate their success.

We’re delighted to be joining the wider ALP family of schools and this will bring all the benefits of being part of a larger organisation and family of schools whilst still keeping all the benefits of being a smaller than average size secondary. 

In September we will be welcoming in our largest cohort into Year 7 next but equally welcome other students into our school mid-way through any other year group. All the important information about school life at Durham Academy can be found on our website. 

We regularly welcome parent’s onto our site for individual guided tours throughout the week to see the school in action. If you are interested in joining Durham Academy please contact our main reception and we can arrange a visit/tour with our Deputy Headteacher. Equally you are very welcome to visit us on our Open Evening Early in September.
