Creating lifelong opportunities for every child

At Durham Academy, we are committed to establishing ourselves as an excellent school. In order to make this a reality we are focused on ensuring that students are fully supported, yet challenged to push themselves beyond what they think they are capable of. We pride ourselves on being a fully inclusive and truly comprehensive school built on traditional principles and high standards where ‘every child matters’.

Curriculum

We have high expectations for our students, encouraging them to create dreams for their future and supporting them to secure ambitious destinations. We aim to develop students who feel happy and valued and act with integrity and honesty.

Personal Development

We deliver a curriculum that is designed to develop all the characteristics that our students need to be resilient in a modern world. We want our students to be happy, successful young adults who are able to thrive and maintain healthy relationships, wellbeing and good health.

SEND Provision

We recognise that all students are entitled to a quality of provision that will enable them to achieve their potential. We believe in positive intervention, removing barriers to learning, raising expectations and levels of achievement and working in partnership with other agencies in order to provide a positive educational experience for all our students.
