At Durham Academy, we believe that students deserve a creative and ambitious computing curriculum that develops their digital literacy and information technology skills, as well as their understanding of computer science. Our curriculum has been carefully designed to ensure that students become confident and competent users of technology and understand how to stay safe online.

Our computing curriculum provides students with the opportunity to be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate and participate safely in a digital world. This includes encouraging critical thinking about online information, understanding the risks and benefits of technology, and using digital tools effectively and responsibly.

Students will learn to solve problems using computational methods by breaking down complex challenges into manageable steps, identifying patterns, and applying algorithms. They will also explore the fundamental principles of computing, such as abstraction, logic, algorithms, data representation, and programming.

Through programming and other computational tools, students will develop their creativity, innovation, and logical thinking skills. The curriculum also encourages students to consider the ethical, social, and environmental implications of technology in today’s world.
